The Natural Way To Keep Mosquitos At Bay!

IMG_5068The Citronella Geranium (Mosquito Plant) Is A Hybridized Plant The Comes From The Chinese Citronella Grass And African Geranium.

I would like to share with you my ideas about the Citronella plant.

It carries the fragrance of Citronella and the mosquitos do not like the scent of it.  With the threat of contracting the West Nile Virus it is more important than ever to protect ourselves from the bite of a mosquito.

The plant is a perennial in warmer climates and can be planted outside around your house.  It is great in pots on your patio or deck to  help keep those pesky bugs away.  If you live in colder climates that get frost in the winter, you will need to put them in pots if they are in the ground, and take them in for the winter months.

If you are going to be out and about you can pull off a leaf and rub it on your arms and legs.  This is a great natural way to keep the mosquitos at bay.

Just a little note:  Some people swear by it and others say that, for them it is not effective. You will have to decide for yourself!

Other plants that are great to plant around the house for detering mosquitos are:  Catnip, Ageratum, Marigolds, Horsemint and Citronella Grass.

Another good way to keep mosquitos away from you while your outside, is rubbing some Citronella, Cedarwood or Myrrh essential oils on your arms and legs as another natural repellant.
